The following Statutory Instruments have been made in accordance with the Private Security Services Act 2004, as amended.
The Private Security (Identity Badge) Regulations provides for an update to requirements in respect of identity badges for employees in the security sector.
The Private Security (Licence Fee) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 provides for changes in relation to the fees for licences issued by the Private Security Authority.
The Private Security (Licensing and Qualifications) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 provides for changes in relation to the categories of licences issued by the Private Security Authority and sets out the training qualifications for enforcement guards.
The Private Security (Licensing & Standards) Regulations 2023 provide for the licensing of contractors providing security services in the Enforcement Guard sector.
These Regulations amend Regulation 5 of the Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Cash in Transit) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 857 of 2007).
The Private Security (Licensing and Training) (Security Guard (Monitoring Centres)) Regulations 2018 provide for the licensing of individuals who are employed to perform certain security services in the security guard monitoring sector and it also provides for the training to be undertaken by them.
The Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Locksmith) Regulations 2016 provides for the Private Security Authority (PSA) to commence licensing, from 1 October 2016, private security employers and independent contractors who engage in the provision of locksmith services. These Regulations also prescribe the standards which locksmiths will need to comply with when providing such services, i.e. PSA Licensing Requirements — Locksmith (PSA 55:2016).
These Regulations provide that the duration of a licence granted (to an individual) on or after 1st December 2015 will be for a period of 3 years. The Regulations also prescribe the revised licence fees applicable.
These Regulations amend the Private Security (Licensing and Standards) Regulations 2012 (S.I. 144/2012) and prescribe categories of licence and the standards to be observed by licensees in the provision of security services.
These Regulations provide for a refund of the turnover fee, payable at the appropriate percentage of the turnover fee, in the event that the holder of a valid licence ceases to provide a security service and the licence is returned to the Authority.
