To allow you to continue working legally in the licensed sectors, you should renew your licence before it expires using our renewals website PSA Renewals. This ensures your new application will be processed before your current licence expires. You can also renew your licence using this website for up to six months after your licence expiry date.
If your licence has expired for more than six months it will be treated as a first time application, please apply here: Applying For A First Licence. You will not need to supply your training again, as we retain copies of your training certification on file.
You will receive an e-mail notification approximately two months in advance of the expiry of your licence to work as a Security Guard (Guarding), Security Guard (Monitoring), Door Supervisor, Private Investigator. If you do not have your e-mail address registered with the PSA, please contact the PSA for further instructions.
To complete your on-line renewal you will need:
- A current credit or debit card
- Your Eircode
- Foreign Criminal Record Certificate (if you have spent six months or more in another jurisdiction since your previous application)
If you wish to add a new sector to your current licence, you will need to upload evidence of having completed the required training.
If you wish to apply for a new sector but are not renewing your current licence it will be treated as a first time application, Applying For A First Licence.
If you have two other sectors on your licence and you renew only one sector, you will be unable renew the other sector at a later date; you will need to submit a new application and you will be unable to avail of a discount for the additional sector.
When you make an application to renew your licence, you will receive an email invitation to complete your Garda vetting online within a few days. When invited, you must complete and submit your Garda vetting online before your renewal will be processed. Your renewal application will then proceed to the next stage of the renewal process.
