Future Requirements for the licensing of Event Security employees.
The Private Security Authority (PSA) has published a Public Consultation document “PSA Future Requirements for the licensing of Event Security Employees”. This process offers industry stakeholders, interested parties and others an opportunity to comment on the requirements to apply to individuals in the Event Security Sector.
The PSA is the regulatory body responsible for the regulation of the private security industry in Ireland. As a statutory body under the aegis of the Minister for Justice and Equality the PSA currently licenses individuals working in the Door Supervisor, Security Guard, Cash-in-Transit and Alarm & CCTV Monitoring sectors as well as contractors in the Alarm & CCTV Monitoring, Cash-in-Transit, Door Supervisor, Electronic Security, Event Security, Security Guarding, Private Investigator and Locksmith sectors.
The PSA is proposing to introduce a licence for individuals working in the Event Security Sector and will also set training requirements to be met by licensed individuals. The aim of Event Security licensing is to protect the public by setting requirements in the areas of training, suitability and service provision. Our goal is to ensure that only those who are qualified to the highest standards operate in the sector.
Responding to the Public Consultation
The PSA are inviting submissions and comments from the security industry as well as other interested parties on this document. Submissions, which should be entitled “Public Consultation”, can be sent by:
