On the 15th April, 2024 Mr. Noel Toner of Ballyfermot, Dublin 10 appeared before Judge Anthony Halpin in Dublin District Court and pleaded guilty to a breach of the Private Security Services Act.
This followed an investigation by the PSA into the provision of door supervisor services in the Dublin 2 area. Mr. Toner had been found providing door supervisor services without holding the required PSA licence.
Judge Halpin fined the defendant €1,000 with costs of €5,000 also awarded against Mr. Toner on one count of a breach of the Private Security Services Act and took a further 19 counts into consideration.
Speaking following the court case, the PSA’s Chief Executive Paul Scallan, welcomed the outcome stating that it sent out an important message to those contemplating working without a PSA licence. Licensing protects the public by ensuring security staff are trained and Garda vetted. We will continue to pursue and prosecute unlicensed operators.
