On Wednesday 23rd September 2015, inspectors from the PSA visited Cork and Limerick to check licensing compliance in the retail sectors. The inspectors carried out checks to ensure that all security guards held valid PSA licences, that ID badges were worn correctly and that the contractors employing security guards were licensed.
In total, 142 security guards were checked across 94 retails outlets. All were found to be licensed and there were 2 breaches of the ID badge requirements. All contractors were licensed.
Paul Scallan, PSA Chief Executive said “The PSA was delighted to see such high levels of compliance with the licensing requirements in the retail sector. This confirms that awareness of licensing is high amongst retailers. Further inspections will take place across the country over the coming months and we hope to see a repeat of the compliance levels seen in Cork and Limerick.”
