The Private Security Services Act 2004 is the primary legislation under which the Private Security Authority operates. The Act was amended by Part 4 of the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011 and by the Private Security Services (Amendment) Act 2021.
The Act has been brought into force by the signing of Commencement Orders by the Minister for Justice. You will find a list of these Commencement Orders on the tab on this page.
Statutory Instruments allow the Authority to legislate for operational matters as provided for in the Act. Details of all Statutory Instruments can be found on the tab to the left of this page.
