If you are applying for a licence to work as a Temporary Licence (Event), Security Guard (Guarding), Security Guard (Monitoring), Door Supervisor or Private Investigator employee you will need to register and pay for your application online.
Once you have registered on-line you will receive your personalised application pack by post within 5 days. Sign this application form back and front and return it to the PSA within 21 days from date of payment along with a colour passport photograph and your training certificate(s), if it is 6 months since your training course, you must provide the QQI Certificate.
The application form should be returned to the PSA with the following documents:
- A copy of your Birth Certificate, passport or Driving Licence
- A colour passport photograph
- Foreign Criminal Record Certificate (if you have spent six months or more in another jurisdiction since the age of 15)
- Evidence that you have successfully completed the required training (see “TRAINING” tab on our homepage)
- IRP card (Irish Residence Permit) OR TRC card (Temporary Residence Card) with Labour Market Access Permission letter for all non European Economic Area (EEA) Nationals.

Please note that if your application is refused the PSA will not issue a refund of the fee paid.
Completed application forms, along with any other documents from the list above should be sent to the PSA in the pre-addressed envelope contained in the application pack or to: The Private Security Authority, Individual Licensing Division, Davis St, Tipperary Town, Co. Tipperary, E34 PY91.
When your application has been processed, you will receive a Garda Vetting Invite by email which you must complete and submit online, refer to your application pack for more information on how to complete it.
A decision will be made on your licence application once the PSA have all required documentation including the results of your Garda Vetting.
